WHAT WE STAND FOR
At the Historic Eagle House, we believe a great stay is about more than a comfortable bed and a good cocktail — though we've got both covered. It's about feeling genuinely welcomed, knowing the place you've chosen to spend your time actually cares about its people, its community, and its impact on the world. Here's what that looks like in practice.
OUR PROMISE
Every guest who walks through our doors is an individual — with their own preferences, their own story, and their own idea of the perfect stay.
We pay attention to that. Our team is trained not just to meet your needs but to anticipate them, and we take genuine pride in the kind of warm, attentive service that keeps guests coming back year after year. When you stay with us, you're not a room number — you're our guest.
That commitment doesn't end at check-in. From the moment you arrive to the moment you reluctantly check out, we are here — attentive, genuine, and invested in making sure every detail of your experience feels effortless. Whether it's a recommendation for the best spot to watch the sun set over Humboldt Bay or where to go for a locally-made ice cream cone, no ask is too small and no detail goes unnoticed.
OUR VALUES
At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to people and the planet. The Historic Eagle House is majority women-owned and operated, and we are proud to be an inclusive, affirming space where every guest — regardless of who they are or who they love — is warmly welcomed and celebrated. Our LGBTQ+ friendly environment isn't a policy, it's simply who we are. That same care extends to the world around us. We use nontoxic cleaning products, recycle, and are mindful of our water consumption — because the Northern California coast we call home is worth protecting.
Beyond our walls, we actively contribute to local projects and support nonprofit organizations both in our community and beyond — because a business rooted in Eureka since 1888 has a responsibility to give back to the place that has given us so much.
OUR SPACE
Twenty-three beautifully appointed guest rooms. A spectacular Grand Theatre Ballroom. A yoga studio, a conference room, and Phatsy Kline's Parlor Lounge — one of Eureka's most beloved cocktail bars. The Eagle House is boutique in spirit but grand in every other way. We've spent years lovingly restoring this Victorian landmark while quietly upgrading it with the modern amenities today's guests expect — so you can step back in time without giving up a thing.
And the location couldn't be more fitting. Nestled in the heart of Old Town Eureka — one of California's most beautifully preserved Victorian cities — the Eagle House puts you steps from Humboldt Bay, world-renowned Redwood forests, coastal dunes, and the vibrant local dining and arts scene that makes this corner of Northern California so worth discovering. Stay with us and you're not just booking a room — you're planting yourself at the center of everything Eureka has to offer.
